omg! this is amazing c: Im really amazed on how creative people can be c: ive been struggling trying to get all the fine details out before i go out and buy all of my material.. though, im a little stumped on where to find real fur.. i dont want to use faux or cloth instead of a hide for the boots c: there should be people around.. and i could even wear the boots outside of cosplaying c:
I got my rabbit pelts from Hobby Lobby. You can also order them from Tandy Leather. As for the leather/suede part of the boots, I went to the thrift store and bought a suede jacket and skirt for less then $10 and ripped them apart to use. The boots are the most comfy thing ever. That is one of the best things about this costume- comfort.
Well it is for my friend actually @.@;; like um perhaps what type of material did you use to make the outfit? the arm bands? the blue and white band as well (do you have another method of making it o.0) ;;
For the fabric I used old table cloths that I cut down and dyed to match. It was a thicker weave cotton, I think. The wrap is made from a large peice of suede and trimed in rabit fur. As for the arm band that's a little trickier to tell you how to make. I made this costume for competition and the armband was my main focal point. It is hand beaded on suede and took over 50 hours to make, probable not something you want to do. If you go to this link: [link] and look in the comments I go into detail on how I made it if you want to try duplicating it. If you wanted to try something easier you could just make it out of fabric as well. I saw one girl paint her's on so it looked like a tatoo (it was kind of cool looking). The wrist bracers I made out of leather but to save time and money you could make them out of fabric as well. If you do it this way make sure that you line it with stiff interfacing to keep it rigid and from slouching. If you go to this link: [link] and look in the comments I go into detail on the hair wraps. Anything else? I have a list of patterns I used if you would like them?
I used Buttericks pattern # B5399 for the tunic (it will have to be modifed and have a collar added). For the pants I used Simplicity # 9871 (This don't have to be modifed at all unless you want elastic in the waist insted of a tie, I used a tie 'cause I thought it looked more authentic. As for the wrap, sorry no pattern. I just made up what I thought it would look like ( I don't think I saved the piece of fabric that I used to make a mock-up). Although, if you search throught the Korra cosplays on here I saw where one girl had her wrap laid out so people could look at it for a reference. Let me know if your friend needs and more help
Hey! Thanks again for the awesome boot help! I combined it with an apache moccassin tutorial I found and it came out perfectly! I had to do many tries, but eventually I got it~ :3 (([link])) That's one of the pictures I have for my boots (my cosplay account, if you're wondering why it's different), thanks again! I wouldn't have known where to start if you hadn't put this up!
OMG! The boots look awesome! I'm glad the tutorial helped. It's great getting feedback on the tutorials and finding out that people are using them. Thanks for sharing I'll be sure to add the link to your costume on the bottom of tutorial so other can see it. P.S. Your Korra cosplay looks amazing!
